KARACHI - The law enforcement agencies claimed to have arrested two alleged target killers while recovered huge cache of weapons in various raids and operations carried out in different parts of the city.

District West police claimed to have arrested at least two suspected target killers  affiliated to a political party.

The accused identified as Manzur Alam alias Bakar. His arrest was disclosed during a press conference held by SP Abid Ali Baloch. According to SP Baloch, the accused arrested belonging to Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London was involved in various cases of target killings, extortion and kidnapping for ransom. He was arrested by Pakistan Bazaar police.  The police also claim to have recovered arms and ammunitions from his possession.

Similarly, another political worker allegedly involved in various cases of crime was also arrested after an exchange of fire with the Orangi Town police. Police officials said that the police party was busy patrolling when the police intercepted a suspected motorcyclist who instead of stopping a bike opened fire at the police and tried to escape, adding that the police also fired into air and later arrested him who later identified as Zohaib Ahmed alias WC. The accused also revealed to have being involved in various cases of target killings including workers of the rivalry political party Muhajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi. The police also claim to have recovered a hand grenade, arms and ammunitions from their possession.

Meanwhile, Sindh Rangers claimed to have recovered huge cache of weapons dumped by the operatives of Muttahida Qaumi Movement London. According to the details, rangers conducted a raid at shop located near MQM sector office located at 11/F New Karachi. The raid conducted on a tip off while rangers recovered 4 SMGs, 223 rifle,222 rifle, 45 bore rife, M-16 rifle, 7MM rifle,  30 bore rifle with telescopes and 14550 bullets of various sort of weapons. Rangers spokesperson said that the weapons has been dumped by the activists affiliated with MQM London and would be used to sabotage to peace of the city.

Man shot dead

Unknown gunmen shot dead a man near Iram Shopping Center located within the remits of Shahrah-e-Faisal police station. Police said that Maqsood Ahmed resident of the Gulishan-e-Juhar was on his way to home when gunmen riding on a motorbike targeted him and managed to flee. The victim was transported to nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injures. Police has so far been unable to ascertain the motive behind the murder while handed over the body to family after autopsy at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center.
