Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa (KP) police stated that murder case of four-year-old Asma in Mardan has been resolved as prime suspect is under arrest.

During a press conference RPO Mardan, Dr. Saeed Muhammad, said that a 15-year-old boy named Muhammad Nabi has been arrested and he has pleaded guilty.

"The boy works in a restaurant in Peshawar and came to Mardan on a marriage ceremony," the police officer told media. "He is a close relative of the minor Asma."

He further said that Nabi took Asma in sugarcane field and tried to sexually assault her but Nabi killed her after she tried to scream. "We found finger prints on minor's throat," RPO mentioned.

Furthermore, Inspector General KP Salahudin Mehsud Police also addressed media earlier today and said this was a blind case for police as there was no evidence, no suspect and Asma's family also did not suspect anyone.

"Police found a drop of blood on one of leaves of sugarcane field," Mehsud told media.

"Police work more vigilantly  during critical cases like these," IG said. He also thanked family of Asma for cooperating with police.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan has praised the performance of KP police stating that provincial police resolved this case without any major evidence and CCTV footage.

"There was just one drop of blood found," he said.

He also mentioned that the press briefing was conducted by police officials like other democratic countries.

"This is the difference between KP's professional police force & the highly politicised & criminalised police force of Punjab & Sindh," Khan asserted.
