LUMS SOE holds MPhil information session, free GRE preparatory workshop

LAHORE (PR): The fifth school at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), School of Education (SOE), held an information session for its new MPhil Education Leadership and Management programme, along with a free GRE preparatory workshop conducted by Fahim Abbasi, who has successfully developed and delivered preparatory courses that include GRE and GMAT.
Around 500 people were in attendance, with the session being broadcasted live in two more auditoriums on campus to accommodate the large number of participants. The session began with Fahim Abbasi providing guidelines for approaching the verbal section of the GRE. This included topics such as verbal reasoning and analytical writing, and the participants were given questions and exercises to help them get acquainted with the GRE format.
The GRE Verbal session was followed by an information session of the LUMS School of Education MPhil Education Leadership and Management programme. The panel consisted of members of the LUMS administration and faculty: namely, Dr Mariam Chughtai, Associate Dean, School of Education, Dr Faisal Bari, Associate Professor, Department of Economics, LUMS, Nuzhat Kamran, Director Marketing and Admissions, School of Education and representatives of the LUMS Admissions department.
The information session provided insight into the features of the MPhil programme, focusing on how the programme will enable graduates to lead the education reform in Pakistan, as well as future career prospects. Dr Mariam Chughtai highlighted the structural, cultural, and intellectual challenges Pakistan’s education system is currently facing, and how SoE is aiming towards bringing educational reforms in these areas. She also spoke about SoE’s collaborations with the Punjab government, the KP government, and other external organisations.

DA Model High School Beachview holds sports festival

KARACHI (PR): Defence Authority Model High School Beachview is an iconic educational institution of DHA which keeps organizing various exciting programmes and activities for students of various grades and levels as part of its versatile educational programme.
A coulourful Annual Sports Festival 2018 for pre-primary students was held at the Junior Campus of the school with great fanfare. Ms Aisha Wasty, Principal Defence Authority Montessori, was the chief guest on the occasion. The tiny toddlers of pre-school section participated in various athletics and co-curricular events with a spirited zeal.
The chief guest commended the school for organizing a wonderful and impressive event for the young students. Principal Saima Afzal said that the school provided an intellectually vibrant and educationally enriching learning environment to students at all levels to prepare them to face the challenges of future life successfully. At the end, the chief guest distributed prizes among the participants who excelled in various events.

SMIU VC addresses delegates of Int’l Latif Festival

KARACHI (PR): Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh, vice chancellor of Sindh Madressatul Islam University, has said that if women act upon the philosophy of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, presented in his poetry about women, they surely can remove the obstacles coming in the way of their success and freedom.
Addressing the delegates of International Latif Festival, at a dinner, arranged by SMIU at its inner court yard on Monday night, he said that the message of Shah Abdul Latif is universal, which addresses the pains, difficulties, sorrows and even struggle of women to achieve their rights.
Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh further said that it was an honor for Sindh Madressatul Islam University that today the 22nd generation descendant of Molana Jalal uddin Rumi, Ms Esin Celebi Bayru is present, who has come from Konya, Turkey.
He said that besides her, some important personalities from Iran, UK and other countries along with distinguished writers and intellectuals of the country are also present here, who had come to attend the International Latif Festival organized by Siraj Institute of Sindh Studies.

Pepsi Co celebrates partnership with MCR Group

KARACHI (PR): Pepsi Co and the MCR Group celebrated their 25-year partnership at an event recently. Senior leadership from both entities was present at the event, where a 5-year extension in the partnership was also announced.
