KAMALIA-Various shops and plazas constructed without approval from Tehsil Municipal Committee (TMC) were sealed during an operation at Iqbal Bazaar and Chichawatni Road here the other day.
TMC Chief Officer Rao Shafiqur Rahman led the operation. Sub engineer Mudassir Iqbal, Encroachment Inspector Siraaj Deen and Akbar accompanied him.
Talking to media on the occasion, Rao Shafiqur Rahman said that it was illegal to construct a shop or any commercial building without the TMC approval. "Those intending to start construction of private or commercial sites must get prior approval from the TMC or legal action shall be taken against them otherwise," he warned.
On the other hand, a meeting of the TMC was held under the chairmanship of the TMC Vice Chairman Ch Mahmoodul Hassan Jutt. A number of TMC members attended the meeting. At the outset, the participants offered fateha for rest of the departed soul of mother of TMC member Malik Amjad Yaqoob and expressed their deep condolences to him.
Later, Rai Ilyas Khan presented a resolution seeking ban on issuance of Sui gas connection in the city without prior approval from the municipality. He stated that there had been countless incidents that people were issued gas connections and newly built streets had been dug up but left unpaved.
"This issue can't be left unmonitored," he pointed out. He proposed that the issuance of an NOC from Kamalia Municipality should be made mandatory before digging up any street for installation of Sui gas pipes. The resolution was passed unanimously and later the meeting was adjourned for an indefinite time.
