Rawalpindi - Police are waiting for medico-legal report of a 23-year-old man, who was allegedly killed in police custody, to initiate legal action against the four cops involved in the incident including an assistant sub-inspector, said DSP City Farhan Aslam on Tuesday.

He said that CPO Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi had also suspended ASI Ateeq and constables Awais and Jamil after Ganjmani police registered a murder case against them. He said that the doctors at DHQ Hospital had carried out autopsy of the deceased, Rehan, besides taking samples from his body. He said that the police investigators had also dispatched the samples to the forensic lab in Lahore for examination. “We are waiting for the medical report and the cops will be arrested if it is proved that Rehan died of torture,” he said.

Earlier, Ganjmandi police registered a murder case against four cops on complaint of Muhammad Kamran. In his application, he stated that a police party picked Rehan from Workshapi Mohala and took him to police station. He added that according to eyewitnesses, the police party tortured Rehan while shifting him to the police station where he died.
