Pakistan ski team reaches Seoul

ISLAMABAD – The four-member Pakistan ski team Tuesday reached Seoul, South Korea to feature in the Winter Olympics 2018. Pakistan Ski Federation (PSF) spokesman Obaid Ur Rehman Ababsi said: “For the first time, Pakistan has been participating in three categories with two skiers, as previously the country took part in only slalom category with one skier. “The national ski team comprising Olympian M Karim and international skier Syed Hamaan will participate in two categories including slalom and giant slalom, whereas Hamaan will feature in cross country. Col (r) M Wali and Air Commodore (r) M Sohail are coach and manager respectively. PSF secretary Air Commodore Shahid Nadeem has already left for Korea,” he added. The Winter Olympics will be held at Korea from February 9.–Staff Reporter

 Technical, selection committees finalised

LAHORE – The technical and selection committees have been finalized for the Classic Football League (CFL) Season 1, which will be held in Karachi in August 2018. The CFL management has announced AFC instructor Shaikh Siddique as technical committee chairman. “I am glad that such a well-needed initiative has been taken by Strawberry Sports Management,” Sh Siddique said. Regarding the CFL matches, he also announced that FIFA rules will be applied and also disclosed the names of the other technical committee members which include Sajjad Mehmood, M Habib, Noman Ibrahim, Asgher Khan Anjum, Zafar Iqbal, M Essa and Ghulam Shabbir. Professional licensed football coach in Pakistan Shahzad Anwar has been placed as selection committee chairman while it members are Sajjad Mehmood and M Habib.–Staff Reporter

 PCB patron urged to look into LCCA affairs

LAHORE - Former first class cricketer Tahir Shah has appealed to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) patron to look into the Lahore City Cricket Association (LRCA) affairs. Shah, a renowned cricket organiser, coach, manager, selector, pointed out that he has always stood against the irregularities taking place in Lahore cricket. “For the recent elections of East Zone did not even inform the concerned voters directly nor issued notification/schedule to the press as required by PCB election commission.” Moreover, Shah appealed to PCB patron to take action against those PCB officials, who were supporting the violators of PCB constitution/rules. He also threatened hunger strike in front of PCB headquarters and later in front of patron’s office in Islamabad if the East Zone and LCCA affairs are not addressed.–Staff Reporter

 1st Cricket Challenge Cup from 15th

LAHORE - The 1st Cannon Foam Cricket Challenge Cup 2018 will commence from February 15 at various grounds of the city, in which 57 teams of active and non-active clubs of Lahore East Zone will take part. Addressing a press conference here Tuesday, tournament committee patron-in-chief Sheikh Ibrahim, along with Golden Star Club president Wasif Zaman, Lines Club member Shafiullah Khan and tournament committee secretary Shahbaz Ali, said: “The purpose of holding this event is to promote cricket at grass-root level. We are holding this event in Lahore East Zone, which has honour of producing players like Abdul Qadir, Aamir Sohail, Imran Farhat, Nadeem Ghauri, Naveed Anjum and other big names. He also announced that just before the final, an exhibition match of SJAL will also be arranged.–Staff Reporter
