It is encouraging that the Sindh Government has taken the initiative to adopt a proper procedure for psychiatric therapy and screening of police officers. This step has been taken after the recent disturbing event of assassination of Salman Taseer by a police security guard. For now this is only going to be adopted for officers on VIP duties. This practice should be implemented for all departments of police and in all provinces. This will not only help prevent such incidents but will also increase the competence of the police.
