LAHORE – Presidents of all the 17 Chambers of Commerce & Industry in Punjab and industrial and trade associations Friday announced their unequivocal support for Dhrna scheduled for Saturday (today) and pledged to fully participate in the sit-in called by the LCCI at Shara-e-Aiwan-e-Tijarat.

LCCI President Irfan Qaiser Sheikh has said that business community wants to play its role for the progress and prosperity of the country but government was trying to keep them busy in other issues. He said it is the government policies that have forced them to stage sit-in. He said that arrangements for the sit-in against gas closure to industry in the province have been completed.

Meanwhile, a five-member LCCI delegation had a meeting with Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr Asim Hussain here at SNGPL offices.

The LCCI delegation also included LCCI Senior Vice President Kashif Younis Meher, former LCCI Presidents Mian Anjum Nisar, Shahid Hassan Sheikh and LCCI Executive Committee Member Sheikh Mohammad Ayub.

The LCCI President Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, during the meeting, urged the Federal Minister for Petroleum to immediately stop giving new connections, apply same formula across the country for gas loadshedding and waive off the markup to the trade and industry during the period when the gas is not being supplied to the trade and industry.
