The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that resolution of the Kashmir dispute is a must for development and prosperity of the region.

The APHC Chairman addressing a gathering in Srinagar said, "We cannot progress and prosper till Kashmir issue is there and even India and Pakistan cannot move forward on economic front due to lingering of the dispute."

The Mirwaiz maintained that time had proven that administrative and economic issues of the territory could not be asdressed till resolution of the dispute.

"We have seen in the past 64 years that governments come and go, but the basic issues of administration, economy and governance are pending. Even we have witnessed retardation on the developmental front during these six decades," he added.

The APHC Chairman castigated the puppet administration for using brute force against peaceful protesters saying that the people demanding basic amenities through democratic and acceptable ways were responded with bullets.

He condemned the killing of Altaf Ahmad Sood who was shot dead by Indian police in Boniyar area of Baramulla on Monday. He said that now the puppet regime was saying that killing of Altaf was cold-blooded murder and guilty policemen would be brought to justice. "What about 120 youth who were killed last year? Why their killers have not been punished till date?" he asked.

The Mirwaiz paid tributes to the 57 civilians killed in Sopore massacre of January 6, 1993, adding, "We can never forget the day." He also denounced house arrest of the APHC leaders, Shabbir Ahmad Shah and Zafar Akbar Butt who were scheduled to visit Sopore to pay tributes to the martyrs of the massacre.
