Baitullah Mehsud’s 'close aide' arrested

HYDERABAD: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested a close aide of Baitullah Mehsud, a former chief of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) who was killed in a missile strike in North Waziristan.

According to details, the CTD and the Rangers conducted a joint raid near Hyderabad on information received during interrogation from already held terrorists in Karachi, leading to the arrest of the wanted terrorist.

SSP Hamid Farooq said that the accused, identified as Meharban, was arrested from Kotri. He said that the terrorist was involved in providing weapons and financial assistance to the militants.

Police said Meharban, son of Badshah Khan, was involved in several terrorist activities in Karachi.
