Diamond Paints victorious in Pakistan Polo Cup

LAHORE - Diamond Paints and Polo ‘d’ Sufi conjured up victories in the ongoing Diamond Paints-sponsored Pakistan Polo Cup 2016 matches played here at the Lahore Polo Cup (LPC) ground on Wednesday.
In the opening match of the day, Diamond Pants carved out sensational victory against ZTBL 6-41/2. ZTBL started the match well against Diamond Paints and got lead through 60-yard penalty hit by Saqib Khan Khakwani and was doubled in the second chukker through 30-yard penalty hit by Raja Taimur Nadeem. After conceding two goals, Diamond Paints bounced back in the when Mumtaz Abbas Niazi converted a field goal to reduce the lead 2-1. But in-form Saqib struck a fabulous field goal to strengthen ZTBL’s lead to 3-1.
Diamond Paints maintained their supremacy throughout the third chukker as Raja Samiullah scored a brace and Shah Shamyl Alam hit one to put their team in a commanding position finishing the chukker having 4-3 lead. Raja Samiullah maintained his sublime form in the fourth and last chukker and hammered a brace for Diamond Paints while one goal was converted by Saqib which ended the match at 6-4. With half goal handicap advantage for ZTBL, the final score was 6-4½ declaring Diamond Paints as triumphant. Hissam Ali Hyder and Ahmed Zubair Butt officiated the match as field umpires.
Hamza Mawaz Khan was instrumental in Polo ‘d’ Sufi’s thrashing 10-4½ victory against Army Whites in the second match of the day. Hamza slammed four goals – three were field goals and one was on spot penalty and was ably assisted by Ahmed Ali Tiwana and Sufi M Farooq who struck three goals each to guide Polo ‘d’ Sufi a thrashing victory against their rivals. For Army Whites, who had two and half goal handicap advantage, Bilal Hamayun Riaz and Kaiser Tirmizi scored one goal apiece. Major Omer Minhas and Raja Arslan Najeed supervised the match as field umpires.
