PC Pindi resumes operations after fire incident

rawalpindi - More than 150 guests at the Pearl Continental (PC) Hotel who were earlier shifted to its sister property in Islamabad were brought back yesterday after the hotel affected by Tuesday night fire resumed its routine operations.
Earlier, more than 150 guests at the Pearl Continental (PC) Hotel had to make an early hours shift to Marriott Hotel Islamabad after smoke caused by fire in basement filled the rooms, the management said.
“No cause of a small fire in the service area of the hotel has been confirmed. The security department of PC Hotel is determining the cause of fire in conjunction with the authorities,” said Asad Ullah Khan, media manager of the hotel.
The small fire broke out in finance office in the basement emitting the thick smoke.
He added the smoke travelled to the upper floors via air conditioning ducts, filling the rooms of multi-story five-star hotel. The fire brigade services of district government, Rawalpindi Cantonment Board and Rescue 1122 extinguished the fire.
He said that the guests thought there was a huge fire but in reality the danger was limited. “Approximately some 115 rooms were occupied by 150 guests at the time of incident who all were shifted to Marriot Hotel Islamabad,” Asad said. He said that all the guests have been brought back in their rooms from Islamabad and the hotel is now fully operational and dealing with guests.
