LAHORE - Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Secretary Najam Ahmad Shah has said that cardiac centers in other big cities would be made more vibrant to minimise the workload on Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC).
Chairing a meeting to review situation at PIC yesterday, he said that vacant posts of nurses would be filled.
Chief Executive PIC Prof Nadeem Hayat Malik, Additional Secretary Health (Estb) Ejaz-ul-Haq, Addl Secretary (Tech) Dr Salman Shahid, Medical Superintendent Dr Suhail Saqlain and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
Prof Nadeem Hayat Malik said that the construction of new emergency block was in the final stage. He said that the new block would hopefully be functional by the end of March 2016. He said that approximately 3000 patients were getting free medicines for one month from OPDs of the hospital on daily basis. He said that system has been computerized and a complete database of patients has been prepared.
He said that PIC was heavily overloaded where patients come not only from whole Punjab, but also from other provinces. He said that IT Department of PIC was performing effectively, which would be taken up to the optimum level. He said that PIC could help other hospitals to update IT system and training of staff.
