SIALKOT - Federal Minister for Interior Ahsan Iqbal has stressed a need for promoting quality education to end the ignorance and backwardness besides putting the country on the way to prosperity.

He was addressing the participants of a special ceremony held at the University of Gujrat (UoG)'s Narowal Campus to welcome the newly enrolled students.

He said that education is the big weapon to remove darkness, backwardness, ignorance and terrorism. He added that the promotion of quality education could help build up good personality and character of the students who are the future of the nation.

He announced early establishment of the University of Narowal (UoN) saying that the Punjab Cabinet Committee would give final approval to the project during its meeting to be held next week.

He also asked the students to focus on the utilisation of the advanced technology to put Pakistan in line with the advanced countries. He said that the provision of quality education was the top priority of the government and it was making efforts for ensuring easy access of everyone to quality education.

He said that the promotion of quality education was a must to curtail the internal and external challenges. He said that the foreign media was also hailing Pakistan's positive and effective policies as it had declared Pakistan as an emerging economy. He said that the government had already put the country on the highway to the goal of national stability.

He said that the national development and growth rate of Pakistan was increasing day by day. UoG Narowal campus Principal Dr Younas, Chairman Narowal District Council Ch Ahmed Iqbal, MPAs Rana Manan Khan, Sardar Ramaish Singh Arora and Narowal deputy Commissioner Ali Anaan qamar were also present.
