SARGODHA - Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, addressing a big public meeting at Kotmomin in district Sargodha on Saturday, said the Supreme Court’s ruling in the Panama Papers case has triggered a chaos in the country.

The former prime minister said if there is a chaos in the country, it is due to that judgment. The nation has rejected this verdict of the apex court, he said, claiming the ruling has caused a global ridicule for Pakistan.

Targeting the judges who disqualified him in the Panama case, he said the people elected him, but the judges disqualified him, adding the public gathering is a referendum against those judges.

Nawaz Sharif said there are two standards of justice for him and his political opponent, Imran Khan, which is not acceptable to the people. He stated: “Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan was not punished by the courts even though he had admitted ownership of an offshore company whereas I was sent home despite being an elected prime minister.”

The nation has rejected the Supreme Court decision of his disqualification in the Panama case, he reiterated. He asserted supremacy of law will be restored at all cost. His ouster has become the main cause of the slow economic growth in the country, he claimed.

The ousted prime minister accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan of misusing in gambling the money donated for the hospital. The journey of progress has slowed, but Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is not to be blamed for it, he contended.

He claimed the ladla will find no place to hide after the upcoming general elections. “You level allegations against others, but you yourself are a very corrupt man,” Nawaz alleged, addressing Imran Khan. He said this huge rally is a testament to his popularity, terming it a referendum.

He vowed standard of living of the poverty-stricken people would be raised by creating employment opportunities for them. He claimed PML-N has overcome the electricity loadshedding crisis. He also pledged to establish a university in Kotmoman.

Lauding the services of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Sharif said he is working hard for the development and wellbeing of the people and has inaugurated various projects to eliminate the energy crisis.

Nawaz further termed youth his army, saying this force will bring revolution. He said the judges will have to answer the questions being raised by the nation.

Bashing Pakistan Awami Tehreek Chairman Tahir-ul-Qadri, Nawaz Sharif said the conspirator has reached Pakistan from Canada to play his tricks.

Nawaz Sharif said the people have given their decision in his favour. “I am struggling for the restoration of justice and will bring justice to the doorstep of each house in the country. I have changed the direction of the country in the four years and have done the work which could not be done by anyone in 20 years. It is just a joke to expel any elected premier on the basis of Iqama,” the ousted prime minister averred. He claimed corruption of a single penny could not be proven against him. He asked the SC bench disqualifying him to tell the people what corruption he has committed.

PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz, while formally kicking off her political career at the Kotmomin gathering, accused their political opponents of hiding behind the state institutions, including the apex court. Maryam Nawaz alleged the political opponents were extremely afraid of love of the masses for ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

She further stated, “Nawaz Sharif has worked to end 20-hour-long power outages despite the sit-ins and lockdowns. He has fulfilled the promises made during the campaign for the 2013 polls, she added.

Maryam reiterated the Sharif family had faced accountability three times. She also lashed out at Pervez Musharraf for dismissing the elected government and violating the Constitution.

The PML-N leader dismissed the rumours pertaining to any NRO and asserted Nawaz Sharif is working to restore sanctity of vote.

Maryam said today everyone from Lahore to Sargodha is shouting slogan, “We love Nawaz Sharif”. She hoped the Supreme Court would pass similar remarks about the Panama case as it has done about the Hudaibia case. She lamented courts could not dare to call the dictator who had violated the constitution and law of the country. She asked how long the judiciary would be used to weaken democracy. She contended Iqama which is just a visa has been used to make an issue and disqualify Nawaz Sharif. She said despite a thorough probe no corruption of even a rupee could be found in the business of the Sharif family. She claimed Nawaz Sharif would be successful in the restoration of justice. She said before 2013 law and order situation in Karachi was very poor, but the PML-N government restored peace in Karachi while loadshedding was also eliminated in the country. She asserted Nawaz Sharif always fulfilled his promises made to the nation.
