KARACHI - Three PPP workers among five people were gunned down in different areas of the City on late Tuesday night. At least three Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) workers and an alleged member of the land mafia were killed while around half dozen others were wounded in a clash between two groups in Yousuf Goth in the limits of Surjani police station. The PPP workers killed during an exchange of fire. They were identified as Sajid, Haider and Majeed while the alleged land grabber killed was identified as Shahid. The bodies and the injured were brought to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities while some other injured persons were also moved to Civil Hospital Karachi. When contacted, Surjani SHO Atif Khan confirmed the killing of four people. Three of them were of PPP while one belongs to land mafia. Some other PPP men were also critical injured and shifted to different hospitals. It was a clash between PPP and the land grabbers, he added. Following the incident, tension gripped Surjani and its adjacent areas. Heavy contingent of the law enforcers had arrived in the locality. The clash was continued in the area and law enforcers were unable to control the law and order situation. However, police officials refused to comment on the incident. The clash also escalated in different parts of the City and several people were feared dead as law enforcers were failed to control the situation. Two people were injured in a firing incident in Safora Chowrangi. Another man was shot dead in a target-killing incident at a tea shop located in Jauhar Complex, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Shahrah-e-Faisal police remits. The body was moved to JPMC. Political affiliation of the deceased was yet to be ascertained till this report was filed.
