Establishment of rail link agreed

ISLAMABAD In a bid to strengthen their ailing economies, Pakistan and Afghanistan have decided to avail the wide range of opportunities that exist in the two neighbouring countries. During the inauguration session of 'Pak-Afghan Finance Ministers moot both the sides agreed to establish the rail link between two countries that, according to them, would facilitate the traders across the border for the quick and easy transportation of goods. Besides this, the two sides felt the need to standardise the already existing road linkage between the two countries, which was the demand of business community for many years. Finance Minister of Afghanistan Hazrat Omer Zakhilwal told his counterpart Hafiz Sheikh that the feasibility of rail and road link of international standard had been prepared. Omer Zakhilwal urged Pakistans business community to invest in Afghanistan making use of the best opportunities in the fields of agriculture, tourism and construction. Later, the Afghan delegation held meeting with Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and discussed various issues confronting Afghanistan and Pakistan.
