Pakistan High Commission felicitates team

LONDON The High Commissioner of Pakistan to the UK Wajid Shamsul Hasan praised Pakistan cricket team on Monday and said that the extraordinary spirit of the team was highly commendable. The High Commissioner was speaking as the chief guest of first Twenty 20 match between Pakistan and Australia at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground Birmingham on Monday. At the award presentation ceremony, while congratulating captain Shahid Afridi, and Umar Akmal for his superb performance that brought him Man of the Match Award, Hasan hoped that the cricket team will play with full dedication and meet the expectations of cricket fans back home and Pakistani Diaspora in the UK. He said that he appreciates immense support and backing from the Pakistani Diaspora which reflects deep attachment of Pakistanis with the game of cricket. On the invitation of the Warwickshire County Cricket Club, Consul General Pakistan, Birmingham Mr. Saeed Khan and other officials of the High Commission and Consulate were also present on the occasion. Chaudhry Abdul Rasheed, a prominent community figure of Birmingham and treasurer Birmingham Central Mosque was host on behalf of Warwickshire County Cricket Club (WCCC). The Chief Executive of WCCC remained with the commissioner on the occasion.
