NOTTINGHAM (AFP) - James Anderson took three top-order wickets as England dismissed Sri Lanka for just 174 in the fourth one-day international at Trent Bridge here on Wednesday. England, looking to level the five-match series at 2-2, reduced Sri Lanka to 20 for four after captain Alastair Cook won the toss and opted to bowl first on a green-tinged pitch. Anderson took three for 24 in eight overs before fellow seamer Jade Dernbach wrapped up the innings with three wickets in 10 balls as Sri Lanka were bowled out with more than six overs to spare. Former captain Kumar Sangakkara made a fine 75 before he was last man out but no other batsman made more than Angelo Mathews's 39, the pair sharing a sixth-wicket stand of 72. Sri Lanka captain Tillakaratne Dilshan was caught behind off a good length Anderson delivery for nought in the first over. Mahela Jayawardene had been in superb form, making a career-best 144 and 79 in the World Cup finalists' 69-run and six-wicket wins at Headingley and Lord's respectively last week.
