'Corruption eating up national resources

SAHIWAL - Former federal minister Noraiz Shakoors son Ali Shakoor has said that commission mafia had ruined the national economic system to the core, saying it prevailed among all the government sectors. Talking to news persons, he said that the major chunk of money goes into the pockets of commission mafia and high-ups with the covert support of influential persons. He called upon the government to adopt strict measures to eliminate the menace. Ali Shakoor further said that law and order situation was deteriorating because of derelict officers. He added that the situation was getting out of control and crime rate was on the increase. He said that incidents of dacoities, robberies and murder were taking place everyday thereby spreading panic among the people. He said that because of law and order, industrialists were shifting there business to other countries. This is the worst example of government. He said demanded incentives and facilities on pattern of foreign investors for progress and prosperity of Pakistan. TRADERS PROTEST PITI-ABLE DRAINAGE: The Traders of Sauri Gali, Pakpattan Bazaar, Saddar Bazaar, Jinnah Chowk and other trading centres took out a protest against the poor performance of the TMA Sahiwal. They vehemently protested against the oozing and choked gutters, dilapidated streets and open manholes in the city. They demanded the government to take a stern action against the TMO Rana Naveed and suspended him from the service for his inept handling of the situation and corrupt practices. The participants of the protest chanted slogans against the TMA and used abusive language against the administration to vent off their spleen. They demanded a stern action against the TMA officials and urged for revamping the drainage system in the city. PLF, PPP mark black day: A joint meeting of the Peoples Lawyers Forum (PLF) District Sahiwal and PPP Tehsil Sahiwal was held here at district courts which was presided over by Advocate Abdul Rauf Daihrr while PPP city Sahiwal President Ali Nawaz Bhatti and Vice President Tariq AFzal Khaga were the chief guests on the occasion. PLF General Secretary Muhammad Shafiq Ch conducted the meeting. A large number of PLF office-bearers and PPP workers participated in the meeting. Speaking on the occasion, Ali Nawaz Bhatti said that July 5 is observed as black day because on that day in 1977 an elected democratic government was toppled by a military dictator. He said that during that rule, party workers braved many atrocities. He condemned the unconstitutional act of a military regime which overthrown a popularly elected government. On the occasion, a unanimous resolution was passed, reposing their confidence in the Present PPP leadership .General Secretary Muhammad Shafiq Ch, Tariq Afzal Khagga, and Amir Sajjad Chohan also addressed the function.
