SIALKOT - The Federal government has evolved a comprehensive programme for the modernization and upgrading surgical industry of Sialkot aims at tracking it on modern production lines and government will provide Rs30 million out of Export Development Fund (EDF) for the purchase of ultra modern machinery disclosed President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Ghulam Mustafa Chaudry. Talking to media persons here the other evening after attending a meeting of EDF, he said the government was taking interest in modernization and up-gradation of surgical industry, enabling it to cope with fast-changing trends and challenges of the glob as well as to increase its global export volume. The steps taken by the government would surely help the surgical industry to bring innovation in the surgical instruments and supportive in enhancing the export of surgical instruments, Mustafa said. The SCCI President further told that Rs28 million had also been allocated for making Sialkot industry child labour free and Rs1.7 million for cluster development programme of Sialkot. Mustafa said that establishment of a Training Institute in Sialkot would be discussed in next meeting of EDF adding such training institutions are functioning in Multan, Peshawar and Faisalabad. The SCCI President thanked the Federal Commerce Minister for allocating amount for surgical industry, child labour and cluster development programme.
