LAHORE (APP) - Friendly environment among the South Asian countries is pre-requisite for viable and durable economic cooperation to accelerate the pace of liberalization in the region. It was stated by veteran trade leader and VP SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Iftikhar Ali Malik at a seminar on Pakistan-India Trade Prospects and Challenges, held under the aegis of Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Federation House on Wednesday. He urged India to relax the visa restrictions to facilitate the frequent exchange of delegations from different walks of life between the both countries to build mutual confidence rather than living in a state of fear. He said the SAARC member countries in view of prevailing global scenario, can play a vital role in emerging conditions worldwide. Iftikhar said that Commerce Secretaries of either side had highlighted the salient features of agenda for co-operation between the two countries in 5th round of talks held on last April. He said that agenda contained practical suggestions and boosting economic ties between India and Pakistan and SAARC countries. He announced that Headquarters of SAARC CCI at Islamabad would fully not only co-operate but also facilitate to develop friendly social and economic relations on priority.
