KARACHI Another 15 people died and dozens injured Wednesday in incidents of violence in the mega city that remains without law and out of order, bringing the death toll to 30 in past 24 hours. The surrounding areas of the Orangi Town, including Qasba Colony, Kati Pahari and Banaras, remained besieged as police was unable to stop the exchange of fire between the rival groups using heavy arms and showering bullets on the residences of the citizens. The residents of A-1 and E area of Qasba Colony were stuck in their houses as armed men took positions on high areas and showed bullets on the houses. Sources in Qater Hospital and Abbasi Shaheed Hospital said that over two dozen wounded, including women and children, were brought to the hospitals with bullet injuries, and most of them received bullet shot while they were inside their houses. On the other side, a deadly incident took place in Gulshan-e-Iqbal police precincts where police found five bullet-riddled bodies from a passenger bus of route No D-7, bearing registration number JE-9027. The bus contained the five bodies parked at Gulshan Block-1, Ziaul Haq Colony. Police officials were on a routine patrol when they found the bodies inside the bus in the morning and shifted bodies to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). The victims were identified as 35-year-old Ghulam Jan, son of Bilal Jan, his younger brother Ahmed Jan, 25, two of their relatives named Aurangzaib, son of Yousuf, Muhammad Wali Mehsud, son of Shahista Khan and Riaz Baloch, son of Ghulam Lal Baloch. Police said that all the victims were shot multiple times after being kidnapped. Four of the victims were residents of Landhi while one was a resident of Gharibabad area. In Orangi Town where entry and exit routes remain blocked and residents remain house-bound since Tuesday, an activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement, 20-year-old Sharafat, son of Shah Muhammad was gunned down in Qasba Colony in Pirabad police remits. Police officials said that two brothers named Muhammad Hayat and Omer Hayat and another woman named Zakra Bibi, wife of Khalid Khan, were also injured in the incident. In the same area of Qasba Colony where gun battle continued, 27-year-old Ramiz and a 45-year-old woman identified as Jan Bibi succumbed to their injuries during treatment at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and Qatar Hospital. Police officials said that both victims sustained bullet injuries during violence in Orangi Town on Tuesday. The victims were the residents of Qazzafi Chowk, Orangi Town. Another unknown passerby was shot dead in Orangi Town. His body was found near from Qasba Colony No 2.5 in the remits of Pirabad police station. Police shifted the victims body to morgue. Separately, a body of a young man identified as Nasir Hussain, 32, son of Bashir Hussain was found in a sack near the Northern Bypass in the jurisdiction of Maripur police station. ANP Sindh spokesperson Qadir Khan claimed that the deceased was the resident of Rasheedabad and was Vice President of ANP Rasheedabad Ward. Following the killing of ANP man, a young man was killed while at least two others were wounded when Nasir Hussains body was brought to Rasheedabad area for funeral prayers. Police said that attendants at the funeral of Bashir Hussain restored to indiscriminate firing which killed Sheikh Salman, 25, son of Naeem Sheikh and wounded Nadeem Saleem and Salman Arif. The officer said that deceased was electrician by profession and lived in Labour Square in Baldia. He said that the deceased and the injured used to work in the local factories. In Old City area, one Naraish Kumar, 26, son of Lalu was shot dead near Lee market within the jurisdiction of Napier police station. Police officials said that deceased was a resident of Malir and had arrived Napier to attend the wedding ceremony of a relative. Police said that due to the shortage of food at the wedding party, he was buying food from a nearby restaurant when unidentified armed men shot and killed him. In Lyari, a 22-year-old milkman, named Shaban, son of Mulazim Hussain, was gunned down near Khadda Market within the remits of Baghdadi Police Station. Police said that the deceased was a resident of Nayabad, Lyari and hailed from Chakwal. Two armed men on a motorcycle chased the victim who was also on a motorcycle and finally shot him near Khadda Market. The victim was taken to the Civil Hospital, Karachi where he died during treatment. Two bodies bearing torture marks of two young men were found from Gulshan-e-Hadeed in Steel Town precincts. Body of Sufiyan was found from Sector L-3 while the body of Zain Masih was found from Sector L-13. SHO Nawaz Gondal said that both victims were dacoits and apparently were killed by their own associates.
