ISLAMABAD Though amended bill pertaining to LPG Policy 2006 is likely to table in up coming Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) meeting, yet LPG marketing companies, making mockery with the decision of Ogra to fix prices, are charging their own rates prices adding salt to the nations injuries. Amended bill of LPG policy 2006 would be in the agenda of next ECC meeting, sources said, adding that gas companies instead of reducing the prices even after Ogras decision to fix LPG prices continued charging heavy prices thus adding woes to common man already hard pressed with ever soaring inflation. Sources in market confirmed this scribe that Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) marketing companies instead of decreasing the prices of the product are charging heavily and are even not following the advice of the regulatory authority while the authority is watching this artificial and illegal hike as a silent spectator. They told that though Ogra has advised the LPG marketing companies to issue invoice letter along with gate pass yet gas companies have been charging heavily. Chairman LPG Distributors Association, Irfan Khokar said that the association had submitted an application to Minister for Petroleum and Natural resources Dr Asim to take serious notice of this unlawful situation adding woes and worries to poor consumer of LPG by taking immediate measures against LPG marketing companies involved in price hike and were continuously violating the decision of Ogras fixed price of the product. Irfan said that Petroleum Minister has given assurance of strict action against those who were involved in black marketing and price hike ahead of holy fasting month of Ramazan. According to the association, the Minister has directed Ogra to take severe notice of this hike in LPG prices by the LPG marketing companies. However, Ogra has so far given assurance to the minister about conducting raids and strict actions. Sources further said that last month LPG marketing companies had charged their own rates and had raised the prices five times but Ogra remained dumb and had not taken any serious mentionable action so far against the 'mafia also involved in cartelization in the market and were busy in money-making from poor consumer already facing double digit inflation along with electricity and CNG load shedding. They were of the view that Ogra must take action serious action against this 'mafia first which had charged own rates then it should fix the price of LPG. It is relevant to mention that two shipments containing 4300metric tons of imported LPG has berthed in Pakistan and local production has shown falling trend to meet countrys demand thus indicating artificial shortage to continue ahead of the fasting month in the country.
