HAFIZABAD - All precautionary measures have been finalised by the district Administration to meet any eventuality due to likely flood in the River Chenab and other nullahs. In this connection, a meeting was chaired by DCO M Asif who ordered setting up of nine flood relief centres in the river-belt areas from July 11. Where officials of the Revenue, Health, Livestocks and other related departments should remain present round-the-clock to perform their duties according the flood plan prepared by the Irrigation Department. A control room under the supervision AC Zaheer Abbas has been set up at the DCO office. It was disclosed in the meeting that 105 villages in Pindi Bhattian and 60 in Hafizabad tehsils consisting of three lakh population and 1, 94,865 acres land would be affected due to likely flood. The DCO was told that temporary shelter, food, medical care arrangements are being made at the relief centres. The DCO, however, warned that he would not tolerate any slackness and negligence of any officials during the likely flood and advised the staff to be responsible and perform their duties with commitment. He particularly referred to the role of Rescue-1122, civil defence which should be pivotal in case of any eventuality. Tax free budget: The Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) has approved tax-free budget for fiscal year 2011-12. The budget was approved under the chairmanship of Administrator TMA Muhammad Akram Bhatti, and the budget estimates were presented by TMO Ehsan Ullah Warriach and TO (R) Samair Intezar Cheema. The budget estimates are as under, the income is estimated at Rs231.23 million. Rs102 million has been allocated for development projects while Rs117.197 has been earmarked for non-development projects, showing a surplus of Rs12 million.
