LAHORE - The inauguration of the Aiwan-i-Quaid-i-Azam is a truly historical occasion. This glorious ‘Aiwan’ is going to remind us of founder of state as well as our duty to manage the affairs of our homeland in accordance with the views of the Quaid-i-Azam and Allama Iqbal. These views were given by a zealous worker of the Pakistan Movement and NPT Chairman Dr Majid Nizami on the inauguration of the project “The Aiwan-i-Quaid-i-Azam”.

“We have already let Pakistan divide. We must collectively observe the day of regret for our past sins. This ‘Aiwan’ is being built under the auspices of the NPT”, he said. 

Dr Majid Nizami cut the ribbon while Allama Ahmad Ali Kasuri prayed to invoke the blessings of God. The programme commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Addressing the ceremony, Dr Majid Nizami said that his conscience always pricked him at the thought that there was no memorial to preserve the memory of the Quaid-i-Azam. He assured that after a little remaining construction it would become fully operational to disseminating the light of knowledge. A day of penitence and remorse should be collectively observed for our past actions, he said. He appealed to the government that Rs 50 million promised by the former prime minister be released. He thanked the participants of the ceremony and asked them to pray for the success of the noble mission of the NPT.

Professor Dr Rafique Ahmad informed the audience that the heads of the educational institutions couldn’t wait for the “Aiwan” becoming operational. They were constantly demanding its launching so that the students could get true enlightenment. Chief consultant Kashif Aslam gave a presentation on the construction work of the “Aiwan”. NPT Secretary Shahid Rasheed observed that the “Aiwan” would prove to be a lighthouse disseminating its rays not only in Pakistan but throughout the world.

He remarked that the next “Yaum-i-Quaid-i-Azam” would be celebrated there. The magnificent structure houses, an auditorium with more than 1000 seats, a picture gallery, a library, an academic and research block, rooms for the research scholars and many other features are included in the ‘Aiwan’. Rana Muhammad Arshad and Ch Muhammad Hussain Gujjar each presented a cheque of Rs 100,000 to Dr Majid Nizami while Begum Safia Ishaq announced a donation of Rs 100,000. Those present on the occasion included NPT VC Dr Rafique Ahmad, Col (r) Jamshed Ahmad Tareen, Tehreek-i-Pakistan Worker Trust Chairman Justice (r) Mian Mehboob Ahmad, Federal Shariah Court former chief justice S M Zafar, Mian Farooq Altaf, Justice (r) Munir Ahmad Mughal, Choudhry Naeem Hussain Chattha,  Begum Mehnaz Rafi, Begum Safia Ishaque, MPA Rana Muhammad Arshad and others. The NPT’s office bearers and others belonging to various fields of life also attended the sitting. At the end, Justice Munir Ahmad Mughal led a session of prayer.
