Four robbers were killed allegedly in separate shootouts with police in Rahim Yar Khan and Sheikhupura. Some other outlaws also managed to escape from the scene here on Monday.

According to details, two alleged highwaymen were shot dead in an alleged shootout with police and three others escaped here on Faisalabad Road near Q-B Link Canal on Monday.

According to the police, five gangsters were looting motorists and commuters after setting up a picket on Faisalabad Road near Q-B Link Canal. In meanwhile, a team of the Bhikhi Patrolling Police also arrived at the site as per routine. On seeing the police vehicle, the outlaws started indiscriminate firing which the police retaliated. The crossfire continued for sometime as a result two proclaimed offenders later identified as Munir alias Muneeri, resident of Sharqpur and Faqeer alias Gaqeeri, resident of Factory area killed on the spot. While their three accomplices made good their escape from the scene. The police said that both the outlaws were wanted in many cases of heinous crime including robbery, snatching, murder and attempt to murder.

The dead bodies were shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities. The police registered a case and started further investigation. In Rahim Yar khan DPO Tariq Mastoi said that the police during routine patrolling came across a gang of robbers in Saddr area of Rahim Yar Khan. Upon sighting the police, the robbers started firing and tried to escape. In retaliatory action, the police allegedly killed two robbers while their three accomplices managed to escape from the scene.
