LAHORE: Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran on Monday chaired a meeting of all deans, principals, directors, chairpersons and heads of various departments at Al Raazi Hall to review security arrangement on campus.

Addressing the meeting, Dr Mujahid Kamran said that Punjab government was taking serious steps to ensure security on campuses. He urged the teachers to play their role to promote real image of Islam and counter the challenge of extremism.

He asked them not to invite disputed personalities and those having links with extremist organizations to seminars and other activities on campus.–Staff Reporter

He instructed the heads to keep CCTV cameras functional round-the-clock and inform university administration and Punjab government’s helpline 0800-11111 immediately after seeing any suspected activity.

Meanwhile, the VC expressed his sorrow over sad demise of internationally-acknowledged novelist Abdullah Hussain. In his condolence message, Dr Mujahid Kamran said that Hussain was a writer of international level and his novels were translated in various foreign languages.

He said that Hussain’s services in the field of literature and his literary creations would be remembered by international community forever. He prayed that departed soul may rest in eternal peace and Almighty Allah may grant courage to the members of bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
