ISLAMABAD Following the instruction of MQM Chief Altaf Hussain, all the MNAs and Senators of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement have been summoned to Karachi to monitor the situation in their constituencies in the wake of any untoward situation caused by the tropical cyclone, Phet along with the thunderstorm. Important coalition partners may also thoroughly review the economic and political situation after the announcement of the federal budget for the current fiscal year. After the instruction of the MQM Quaid, 25 MNAs and 6 Senators rushed to Karachi immediately after the budget announcement on Saturday, MQM sources told TheNation on Sunday. It may be mentioned here that Met office warned that Phet would intensify and could turn into a severe cyclonic storm. Phet reportedly could cause damage in different areas of the province including the provincial metropolis. Here, political pundits assume that the sudden departure of the MPs of an important coalition partner created a bit panic in the government circles and in case they prolonged their till the end of the month, it could aggravate the panic in the government cycles and create problems regarding passage of the federal budget from the Parliament. It would not be out of place to mention here that already MPs of the JUI-F were on dissenting note, which they clearly exhibited in the last cabinet meeting by their boycott. In case of long absence of 25 MQM legislator till the end of month, sources said, besides JUI-F continuing stance the ruling party might face difficult times in passing the federal budget. It may be mentioned here that Maulana Fazalur Rahman and some of his Ministers have been issuing critical statements against the government in the media. In the recent episode JUI-F legislators clearly expressed their reservations that they were not taken into confidence on budget proposals. MQM sources said that Altaf Hussain had called all his MPs to Karachi for an emergent meeting to review the situation in Karachi and their stay may prolong till the normalisation. The party member, sources said, might also hold detailed discussions on current economic-political situation emerging after announcement of the federal budget for the current fiscal. Earlier, MQM parliamentary leader Farooq Sattar conveyed his partys reservations over the proposed budget saying the budget would bring in a new rise of inflation across country.
