ISLAMABAD It can happen only in a country like Pakistan where inept mighty bosses victimise their subordinates for unknown reasons. However, this time a mighty boss of Ministry of Foreign Affairs is said to have initiated an inquiry against one of his subordinates, who is believed to be the only diplomat who was rewarded outstanding performance award by the Ministry of Commerce in EXPO 2010 exhibition against his remarkable achievements. It is pertinent to mention here that the diplomat, against whom inquiry has been initiated, is believed to be the only officer of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who got that prize for his excellent performance. Likewise, it is the same diplomat who has also been nominated by his Ambassador for the Pride of the Performance - the highest civil award. According to the details, Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir has recently instigated an inquiry against Ahmed Ali Sirohey who is currently working as Deputy Head of Mission in 'SANNA. According to the sources, Salman Bashir initiated inquiry against Ali Sirohey after he received a letter from a Saudi national, owner of Yemen based 'ALKHAMSEEN HOSPITAL, who complained against the diplomat of the harsh behaviour and also alleged him (the diplomat) of presenting the book titled Death of American Empire. In the second allegation, he has asked Salman Bashir to inquire how a Govt servant could write a book before retirement. Foreign Secretary is said to have taken prompt action against the complaint and sent a Director General to conduct enquiry against the diplomat, who according to the sources from Ministry of Commerce, brought Pakistan the defence contracts worth million dollars from Yemen and the adjoining countries using his personal contacts. Extensive investigations by TheNation revealed that a group of Pakistanis including doctors and paramedical staff resigned from 'ALKHAMSEEN HOSPITAL due to harsh and humiliating attitude of the owner and administrator of that hospital owned by a Saudi national. Subsequently, the employer/owner of the hospital held the passports of Pakistanis and threatened them of dire consequences. Investigations further revealed that Pakistanis had later approached Yemeni authorities to seek help, however, they couldnt get any breakthrough. Having come to know of the plight of Pakistanis, Ahmed Ali Sirohey - Deputy Head of Mission contacted employer of the hospital and asked him to solve the said dispute with his employees amicably. This made Saudi national, the owner of the hospital, to write a letter to Foreign Office complaining against the diplomat, who had done nothing wrong against him but tried to help his countrymen in resolving their problem. According to a Staff Nurse Shahnaz (also resigned from the hospital), the owner of the hospital was still holding their passports. Investigations further revealed that the book entitled 'Death of American Empire was never associated with Ahmed Ali Sirohey rather it was written by his brother Ali Ahmed Sirohey who was not a Govt servant. Sources from Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed TheNation that ground has already been prepared to transfer the diplomat back to the headquarters. It has also been learnt that bosses of Ministry of foreign office have prepared to produce Ahmed Alis case before the Supreme Court. Meanwhile Secretary Foreign Office did not attend telephone calls made to his cell phone for getting his version. Even a text message was dropped at his cell phone asking him to return a call, however he did not respond till the filing of this report.
