LANDIKOTAL As many as 50 persons were killed in a clash between two militant groups here at Tabai Bazar Zakha Khel in the late hours on Saturday. Official sources informed that the militants of Lashker-e-Islam and TTP clashed at Tabai area of Bazar Zakha Khel, when TTP armed persons reportedly kidnapped an LI man from the Tabai Bazaar area. They added that the firing between the said militant groups had not ceased until early morning. The LI armed men surrounded the hideouts of TTP men at Tabai area to recover their abducted man, but the other group resisted, which resulted in the killing of 48 persons, besides two passers-by were also killed in the exchange of fire. LI men also held seven TTP persons alive along with five vehicles, sources informed, adding that they exchanged fire using both light and heavy weapons in the fight. Six militant commanders were also among those killed in the clash, but their names could not be verified, they further informed. The local political administration Landi kotal also confirmed thirteen causalities in the clash. Agencies add: Fifty people were killed as a result of ongoing clashes between two rival tribal groups in the Khyber Agency. Ten people were killed on Saturday when clashes began and another 40 died on Sunday, reported a private TV channel. The killings came in fierce clashes between the Taliban and Lashkar-e-Islam militant groups. The clashes erupted Saturday night following a botched attempt by Taliban fighters to kidnap Lashkar-e-Islam leader Mani Gul in Tabai Bazar area of Khyber Agency. The Lashkar-e-Islam foiled the abduction and both sides exchanged fire. The dead included members of both militant groups and local residents who were caught in the cross firing. This was the second time that the area has witnessed an armed clash between the Taliban and the Lashkar-e-Islam.
