LAHORE - City reverberated with anti-government slogans due to the irresponsible attitude of the government over blasphemous caricatures besides its anti public policies, which are multiplying public woes. Different protests demonstrations held on Sunday in the City as well as in different parts of Punjab revealed that masses are not being taken into confidence over vital national issues due to which the people are suffering a lot even at the hands of a democratic government. Hizbul Tehrir staged protest demonstration against the continuity of army operation in Northern Waziristan. The protesters demanded of the government to stop the army operation in the tribal areas. They said rulers should not follow the agenda and policy of the US especially of terrorism as the rulers are oppressing and killing its own innocent people. They termed the operation in Jamia Hafsa, Bajour, Swat, Northern Waziristan and Orkazi Agency as the brutal actions of the government, adding that this was war against innocent people of the areas. Protests against the blasphemous sketches were held in different parts of Punjab province especially Lahore, Gujranwala, Narowal, Faisalabad, DI Khan, Sialkot, Sambryal and Mianwali. The protestors demanded that the Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia and Pakistan should get a law of death sentence passed in case of blasphemy. Tehrik-e-Hurmat-e-Rasool also organised a conference at Jallo Village to protest blasphemous caricatures. Addressing the conference the leader of the Tehrik Qari Gulzar Ahmad said that America and Europe were propagating against the Muslims using the tool of terrorism and on the other hand, they were committing religious and journalistic terrorism by publishing the sketches of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). He alleged America was backing the blasphemers and Muslims should get united against the US terrorism, which always hurt the sentiments of Muslims under different covers. 'Unity of Ummah need of the hour The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) brought the message of blessing and peace for the whole world so the objective of establishing peace in the world could be achieved by following his teachings in their letter and spirit. The unity among Muslims is the need of the hour, said Pir Naqib-ur-Rehman, custodian of Eidgah shrine, while speaking at Dars-e-Hadith congregation at Eidgah Sharif Rawalpindi according to information reaching here on Sunday. As far as Pakistan is concerned, we can overcome all the problems on domestic and external fronts by forging unity in our ranks, he added. Meanwhile, a delegation of Eidgah Sharif on Sunday held a meeting with CPO Rao Iqbal and discussed with him the issues related to the foolproof security and traffic plans for a three-day international Milad Conference and 113th Urs at Eidgah Sharif from Monday (today). The CPO directed the traffic police to take effective measures for ensuring smooth flow of traffic during movement of the participants of the Urs. It was decided in the meeting that walkthrough gates would be installed at Eidgah Sharif for security purposes. The main session of the Milad Conference would begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday (June 8).
