36 kg heroin seized by ANF in raid

LAHORE  - Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) claimed on Thursday to have seized 36 kg heroin and foiled an attempt of smuggling it abroad.  An officer of ANF said that they received information from their sources that the narcotics was being smuggled to Jakarta, Indonesia. ANF team raided the cargo section of Lahore Airport and checked the doubtful consignment and recovered 24 kg heroin concealed in the packing of crockery (water set).
Raiding team arrested two Customs clearing agents on the spot and on their pointation also nabbed a man who had supplied them the said consignment.
The team further recovered 6 kg heroin from possession of the man arrested.
ANF team also raided a factory situated in Muridke where narcotics was concealed in the packing of crockery and wanted to arrest the main accused of the case. The accused escaped from the scene as he heard about the arrival of the ANF team. An ANF officer seeking anonymity said that they were conducting raids for the arrest of main accused and they were confident that accused would be arrested soon.
He said that value of the narcotics in international market was more than Rs. 360 million. A case has been registered against accused and further investigations are underway.
It is worth mentioning here that ANF had recovered 20 kg heroin on April 24 when it was being smuggled to Uganda through Rapid Cargo service.
