ISLAMABAD - Interim Committee of Pakistan Olympics Association (POA) took serious notice of summoning of illegal and unconstitutional meeting by sacked POA president Lt Gen (retd) Syed Arif Hassan and directed all national sports federations/departments/services/provincial and other Olympics associations to stay away from it which will be held at Olympics House tomorrow (Saturday).
Interim Committee POA chairman Asif Bajwa headed the meeting held on Thursday here at PSB committee room. Secretaries of different sports federations participated in the meeting and necessary arrangements for the holding of the 32nd National Games were discussed in detail.
The representatives of federations showed their concern about the illegal and anti-sports activities of Gen Arif, who is destroying sports culture in the country. The house unanimously declared the meeting called by Arif Hassan illegal because he has no official capacity to call any such meeting.
The house also decided that the federations which will participate in the illegal meeting will render themselves liable to disaffiliation from the POA and Pakistan Sports Board. Any official(s) attending the said meeting will be banned from participation in any sports activity in any capacity.
