LAHORE - Dr Hasan Askari, a political analyst designated as caretaker chief minister of Punjab by the Election Commission of Pakistan on Thursday after the failure of the PML-N and PTI to pick a consensus candidate for the coveted post despite several rounds of talks, said in a brief interview with a TV channel that it was a challenge for him to provide a conducive atmosphere to all political parties to take their respective programmes to the electorate.

He said he has no favourites. He said he would form a brief cabinet, comprising non-partisan professionals, during the next four-five days.

In response to a question, Dr Askari said he would deal according to the Constitution any complaint raised by any political party.

Dr Askari will take oath of office at the Governor’s House on Friday.
