KARACHI - People of Sindh have rejected the strike call given by PML (N), because they do not believe in politics of confrontation and want stability in the country, said Sindh Minister for Local Bodies' Agha Siraj Durrani. He was addressing a Press conference at Karachi Press Club here on Friday. "All commercial and business centres remained open and transports plied normally on the routes", he added. Senator-elect Syed Faisal Raza Abidi, Advisors to Chief Minister Rashid Rabbani, Siddique Abu Bhai, Special Assistant to CM Waqar Mehdi also spoke at the Press conference. The minister said pursuing the reconciliation policies of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, President Asif Ali Zardari had raised the slogan of "Pakistan Khappay". (We want stable Pakistan), which is our identity, said the minister. He said that he held Nawaz Sharif in high esteem but he (Nawaz) should desist from attacking our leader President Asif Ali Zardari. Addressing Nawaz Sharif, Agha Siraj asked him, not to pour fuel on fire because the political and economic situation is not conducive to politics of agitation and said his tactics would not work as people are politically aware. He reminded the PML (N) leader that the people would have come on roads, had they felt that the verdict of Supreme Court was wrong. He warned that the law will take its own course if some one try to create law and order situation or try to destroy private and public property. Sharif brothers, he said, were disqualified through a judgement of Supreme Court and no individual or party was responsible for the judicial act. Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, Asif Ali Zardari and other party leaders had faced similar situations but they did not resort to street agitation and prefer to fight it in the court of law. The Shaheed leader and her spouse faced courts in Attock, Kot lakhpat, Lahore and Pindi court, though we did not recognised in those courts but yet appeared before them to fight legal battle. Senator elect Syed Faisal Raza Abidi said that people of Sindh have proved that they believed in the stability of the country by rejecting the strike call. He expressed gratitude to the leadership of MQM and ANP for supporting PPP's historic rally. Advisor to Chief Minister Rashid Rabbani said unheeding the shutter down strike call of PLM (N), the people of Sindh have proved that they believed in democracy and have full confidence in the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani. He expressed gratitude to the people Sindh as they wanted to see a politically stable and prosperous Pakistan.
