LAHORE - A childless woman was shot dead by her brother-in-law over property issue in Manawan police limits on Friday. The victim was identified as 25-year-old Iffat Bibi, wife of village Talwara resident Abdul Qayyum. The police said Qayyum contracted marriage with Iffat six years back. The couple had no child. In the meantime Qayyum transferred his property in the name of his wife amid strong resistance by his younger brother Muhammad Saleem. Both had also scuffled several times over the issue. According to the police, on the day of the incident, the two again exchanged hot words. Saleem got infuriated when Iffat intervened. He called his nephew Haroon and another relative Abid Ali and opened firing on Iffat. Resultantly, she sustained three bullet injuries and was immediately taken to a local hospital but died on the way. The assailants however, fled the scene. The police has shifted body of the deceased to the city morgue for autopsy and registered a case against the alleged killers on the complaint of Iffat's brother Zaka Ullah with no arrest so far.
