BB murder trial

The anti-Terrorism court No 3 hearing the murder case of former prime minister and chairperson of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Benazir Bhutto has issued third arrest warrants of General (retd) Pervez Musharraf. The court denied the Federal Investigation Agencys request that one month period be allowed to ensure servicing of the warrants. Instead the court insisted that he should be produced before it on the next date of hearing which was fixed to March 19. It is interesting to observe that despite the fact that the honourable court has earlier issued two arrest warrants but none could be served for unknown reasons. The FIA took the plea that the Interior Ministry had written a letter to the Foreign Office to ensure servicing of the warrant and was awaiting for the response. What is intriguing is that despite the fact that Gen Musharrafs name has been included in the list of alleged killers, who then is resisting the servicing of the arrest warrants? Under normal circumstances, the Foreign office should have directed Pakistans High Commission in London to engage the Scotland Yard and get the arrest warrants serviced. Why is the Federal Government reluctant in following the procedure in this connection? What is not understandable is why the family particularly her spouse, President Asif Ali Zardari not exerting the required pressure to bring all those responsible for Benazirs murder to stand trial? At the same time why the Interior Ministry is not playing the due role to ensure fair trial. Once the trial begins against the former military dictator, it would also become clear if the two police officers now charged with her murder are actual culprits or they are being escape-goateed. Mystery still shrouds who actually killed Benazir Bhutto. At one stage Baitullah Mehsood was accused of having killed her by no one but Mr Zardari and since then the blame has been shifting. No one has bothered to investigate those who Benazir herself identified to be her likely killers. Lot of time has been wasted while her party workers commonly known as 'Jialas are keen to know who deprived them of their popular leader.
