Mr Rehman Malik, our celebrated and versatile Interior Minister has revealed on the floor of the house that next on the list in target killing is he himself then Sheri Rehman while the third one is Fauzia Wahab. If he is so confident in his prediction, then he should also know through his sources who are the killers or planners? All the target killings are planned well in advance as the planners carry out surveillance of their targets to see how best the target can be attacked without being caught. The killers must escape safely after their crime. If our counter intelligence is effective, the planners or the handlers can be apprehended before the assassins go for a kill. The killers are hired and they get paid once the target is eliminated. It is a clear failure on the part of our intelligence agencies if they are unable to arrest the masterminds or the handlers of the killers. The case in point is the recent murder of our Federal Minister Shahbaz Bhatti. It is a very sad and tragic incident. The Home Minister must take the full responsibility for this serious lapse and must resign. There is no excuse for him to stay as home minister any more. Not only he has failed in providing security to the common man, he has failed to protect his federal minister and attacks on other VIPs especially when he always claims to have prior definite information. He has been bluffing the nation after each bomb blast or suicide attack by saying that he has cornered the militants and very soon all would be eliminated. He is more involved in implementing the Zardari Doctrine of reconciliation than doing his own job. Lately, he has been entrusted the job of handling the case of Raymond Davis and he is trying hard to get him freed not realizing its repercussions the government will face on his release.
