Hearing against ‘N’ MNA put off

RAWALPINDI - An anti-terrorism court (ATC) here on Tuesday adjourned till March 13 the hearing against PML-N MNA Anjum Aqeel Khan in the case of fleeing from police custody.
ATC No 1 Judge Shahid Raffique took up the case during which police could not produce PML-N MNA Anjum Aqeel Khan before the court as he was admitted in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims). The court put off the hearing till March 13, 2012 against PML-N MNA.
Meanwhile, a fake lawyer was arrested from the court of Additional and Session Judge (ADSJ) in District Bar here on Tuesday. The fake lawyer was handed over to police, which during investigation disclosed that the accused was actually a pickpocket, moving in District Bar premises in disguise of a lawyer to deprive the litigants and other visitors of their cash and valuables.
The fake lawyer was identified as Muhammad Razzaq son of Muhammad Taj Din, resident of Mohala Ghaziabad, Street Number 10, House Number 334, said police. According to details, gathered from different corners, District Bar Association (DBA) Rawalpindi Joint Secretary Abdul Basit Chaudhry went in the court of ADSJ Akhter Bahadur to contest a case when he noticed presence of a suspicious person wearing lawyers’ dress.
 Basit asked the person whether he was a lawyer on which the person nodded in yes.
However, he (suspicious person) could not provide his license when he was asked to do so. Later, the fake lawyer was presented before DBA President Sajid Ilyas Bhatti and Secretary General Imran Ali Malik, who handed him to police.
Police Check Post Kacheri Sub Inspector (SI) Sabir, who is dealing with the case, when contacted said that it was disclosed during the initial interrogation that Razzaq was a pocket picker not a lawyer.
He said that a case has been registered against him while further interrogation was on.
