LAHORE – Paramedics from major hospitals in the City on Tuesday held a demonstration outside the Punjab Chief Minister’s residence in Model Town to press for the demands of revised service structure, regularisation of adhoc employees and health professional allowance on the patters of doctors and nurses.

The protesting paramedics blocked Ferozepur Road, causing worst traffic chaos for over eight hours. Yousaf Billa, a paramedic of Services Hospital, sustained burn wounds when he attempted suicide by setting himself ablaze. He was rushed to the Lahore General Hospital.

With neither the parliamentarians nor the Health Department tried to negotiate with the protesters, the paramedics called off protest and announced to establish hunger strike camp outside the Press Club on March 30.
