LAHORE – Lahore won the Special Persons Athletics final with two gold and one silver medal here in the Punjab Sports Festival on Tuesday.

In 100m one-arm persons’ race, Asghar Ali of Faisalabad clinched the title after grabbing first position while M Shafique of Lahore was second. In 100m mentally retarded persons race, Bilawal Aslam of Lahore bagged first position while M Sultan of Gujranwala got second. In 50m mentally-retarded girls’ race, Razia Mansoor of Gujranwala secured first position while Sara Ali of Rawalpindi won second. Mubashir Ali of Rawalpindi won first in 100m visually impaired person’s event whereas M Shahzad of Sahiwal managed second.

In the 50m girls’ visually impaired race, Wajiha of Rawalpindi won first while Shabnam of Bahawalpur achieved second position.

In the 100 m deaf and dumb girls’ race, Memoona Saleh of Lahore got first position while Misbah of Bahawalpur achieved second position. The 100m deaf and dumb boys’ race was won by M Naeem of Sargodha and Umer of Lahore managed second position.  The last event of the day, 100m wheel chair race, was Tayab of Lahore won first and Ahmed Yar of Multan scored second position.

In the press club’s cricket tapeball match at Government College University, Multan beat Faisalabad by two runs. Multan scored 84 for the loss of five wickets while Faisalabad were all out on 82 runs. In the second match, Sahiwal defeated Rawalpindi by 48. Sahiwal scored 111 and Rawalpindi managed only 63 in reply.

Meanwhile, the event saw a fight between SBP official Ghafar Gujjar and Gujranwala team official on a trivial matter. The SBP official asked the Gujranwala team official to stay away from track on which both started using abusive language and started fighting. They beat each other and try their best to spoil the event.

Seeing this, DG sports Uman Anwar made a 5-member committee and asked them to resolve this matter within 24 hours and said that a strict disciplinary action would be taken against the one who found guilty.
