LAHORE – Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Department of Punjab Government celebrated International Women’s Day under the aegis of All Pakistan Women’s Association here on Tuesday. A seminar on “Corruption How It Impacts Women” was organised at APWA in this regard.

Human Rights activist and noted writer including IA Rehman, Oria Maqbool Jan, Provincial Secretary Human Rights and Minority Affairs Arshad bin Ahmad and others addressed the ceremony.

The speakers highlighted the role played by women in the human history. They said the nursing of daughter was motivated in many Hadiths by the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), they added. They said a large number of women had been suffering domestic violence. They said the corporate culture had engulfed the missionary spirit of media and other organisations. They said today the birth of a girl had been considered as a burden on the parents. The need, they stressed, was to restore lost stature of women in the society. They stressed the need to the establishment of more organisations like APWA that rendered countless services for womankind.
