Zardari pledges to make any sacrifice for Pakistan

SADIQABAD - President Zardari said that the PPP-led government had worked round the clock for the development and prosperity of Pakistan, with top priority of quelling terrorism from the country, and added that the PPP’s history was replete with sacrifices and martyrdoms.
“Through the policy of reconciliation and consultation, we strengthened democracy. The party that would get majority will be transferred the power. In the democratic history of the country, for the first time, the present government was going to complete the five-year tenure,” said the president addressing a luncheon held by the Punjab governor in the former’s honour at Jamaluddin Wali, Sadiqabad.
The president said that Yousuf Raza Gilani who hailed from Wasaib suffered five-year imprisonment and made sacrifices.
“After keeping in mind his (Gilani’s) services, we made him prime minister of Pakistan and he proved the allegation that it was a land of perfidious people, wrong,” he added.
He further said, “We have extended the hand of friendship towards Makhdoom Ahmad Mehmood and Insha’Allah, will continue the relationship for the whole life.”
He said that the forthcoming general elections would be free, fair and transparent. He said that the PPP was the symbol of federation and Insha’Allah would not hesitate to make any sacrifice to strengthen Pakistan. He pledged that the people of Seraiki Wasaib would be given their rights. He claimed that the government had provided generous funds for the development of district Rahim Yar Khan.
On the occasion, Governor Ahmad Mehmood, former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, MNA Javed Iqbad Warraich, MPA Javed Akbar Dhilloon, Abdul Sattar, Mustafa Mehmood, MPA Murtaza Mehmood, Javed Hassan, Irtaza Altaf, Col (r)  Naveed Sajid and other PPP leaders were also present.
During the president’s visit, the PPP Rahim Yar Khan held a meeting in Sadiqabad under the chair of President Asif Ali Zardari with especial participation of former prime minister Gilani and the Punjab governor. The president and the district office-bearers of the party discussed political situation of the district.
District president Javed Akbar and the local members of the parliament briefed the president about the development projects in the district. Addressing the meeting, the president directed the PPP office-bearers and the local lawmakers to remain in constant touch with the people and start preparation for the forthcoming general elections. He said that the PPP would award party tickets to those desirous for serving the people, with the recommendation from the party organisations.
He claimed that his party was working on the vision of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto. The present government tried to solve the people grievances despite all the national problems.
