Gangster killed; 3 suspects held in encounters

KARACHI  - A gangster was killed while three suspects arrested during separate encounters with the police and the Rangers.
Law enforcers claimed to have apprehended 120 suspects in targeted raids here on Thursday.
During an alleged encounter between the Rangers and gangsters, an alleged Lyari gangster was killed while his accomplice arrested in injured condition in Kalakot area, Lyari.
Police said the Rangers raided the hideout of the gangster where the gangsters opened fire on them. Two gangsters sustained bullet wounds when Rangers retaliated. Later one of them succumbed to injuries. Police added the body of the victim gangster was shifted to morgue while his accomplices were moved to an undisclosed place by the Rangers.
Rangers also claimed to have recovered hand grenades and other weapons from them.
Separately, two alleged bandits were arrested in injured condition during an encounter with the police and the Rangers in Nazimabad locality. Police said the bandits were trying to flee after looting an electronic shop when police and Rangers chased them and tried to intercept them. They opened fire on the law enforcers. In crossfire, both of them sustained wounds. Police shifted them to hospital. Police said the bandits were identified as Asif and Sanaullah while two TT pistols were also recovered from their possession.
Meanwhile, Spokesman of Karachi police claimed to have apprehended 113 suspects during 77 raids and 6 encounters in various parts of the metropolis. The spokesman said huge cache of weapons was also recovered from their possession.
Ranger’s spokesman claimed to have arrested an alleged target killer in a raid. He was involved in 90 murder cases. The suspect was identified as Umair aka Jailer, sources said. The suspect confessed his involvement in 90 murders. Another accomplice of him Shujaat Hashmi was arrested a couple of month ago during a raid by the Rangers who also confessed his involvement in 100 murder cases.
