CDA in trouble against Army in G-II match
ISLAMABAD - Capital Development Authority (CDA) was in all sorts of troubles against Army in their second innings as they lost 5-65 in 22 overs in their Patron’s Trophy Grade-II 2013-2014 second round Group-B match at Army Cricket Ground on Thursday. CDA took 128-run lead with five wickets still intact. Khadim Hussain took 4-14. Earlier, CDA resumed their first innings at the overnight score of 295-9 in 76 overs and were all out for 295. Army innings was folded at 232 in 63 overs. Mir Saeed made unbeaten 82 while Shahid Khan added 50. Azam Khan and Sohail Khan took 4 wickets each. In another Group-B match, Dollar East finished day two for 16 without loss in 10 overs against Nadra, which still required another 15 runs to avoid innings defeat with all the 10 wickets in hand.–Staff Reporter

Asian Style National Kabaddi begins
ISLAMABAD – The 12th Asian Style National Kabaddi Championship 2014 began at POF sports complex under the auspices of the POF Sports Control Board on Thursday. POF sports control board president M Afzal was the chief guest at the opening ceremony. In the inaugural match, Army outclassed Wapda 17-7. Prominent kabaddi teams from across the country are taking part in the event. Speaking at the occasion, POF sports control board vp Col (r) Inam Ullah Khan said: “Sports play a vital role in promotion of building character and brotherhood between the human being. POF sports control board is striving to provide best sports facilities to residents of this city keeping in view the vision of the POF Board chairman.” A large number of spectators witnessed the colourful opening ceremony.–Staff Reporter

ADOP holds ‘anti-doping’ seminar
ISLAMABAD - Anti-Doping Organisation of Pakistan (ADOP) held an anti-doping seminar here at a local hotel on Thursday. Federal Secretary Ministry of IPC M Ijaz Chaudry was the chief guest at the opening ceremony. Pakistan Sports Board Director General Dr Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera and DDG Syed Habib Shah along with others were also present on the occasion. Anti-Doping Organisation of Pakistan chairman Dr Waqar Ahmad welcomed the chief guest and explained the objectives of the seminar. He said that people from different sports organisations had been invited to expand the awareness of ‘No to Drugs’ for sportspersons. The IPC secretary lauded the efforts of PSB DG and Pakistan Anti-Doping Agency. He expressed that giving awareness of ‘anti doping’ to the players is a holy mission.–Staff Reporter

Office-bearers of PBBA elected
LAHORE - Moazzam Khan and Syed Fakhar Ali were elected chairman and president of the Punjab Baseball Association (PBBA) in its general council meeting which elected fresh office-bearers for a next term of four years here Thursday. The new office-bearers are Ch Kabeer Ahmad Khan patron, Moazzam Khan chairman, Syed Fakhar Ali Shah president, Syed Khawar Shah SVP, Farooq Aziz (DG Khan) and Nasim Khan Niazi (Mianwali) vps, Sh Mazhar Ahmad (Lahore) secretary, Amir Bhatti (Kasur) and Bilal Mustafa (Bahawalpur) joint secretaries, Rao Asif Jalar (Multan) finance secretary, Hurria Hussain (Lahore) chairperson (women wing), Tasawar Aziz vice chairperson and Tamsela secretary (women wing) while Tamoor Adil Gilani, Sajid Rasheed, Syed Babar Sherazi, Dur-i-Hussain were members executive committee.–APP
