LAHORE - A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Friday admitted for regular hearing an intra court appeal seeking trial of Prime Minister under Article 6 of the Constitution.

A division bench headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan announced the reserved verdict. The bench also issued notice to federal government to submit reply on May 20.  Sayed Iqtidar Haider, a local resident, had filed a petition submitting that that the prime minister appointed his daughter Mariam Nawaz as chairperson of Youth Loan Scheme against the rules.

He said the notification issued for the appointment of Mariam Safdar mentioned her name as Mariam Nawaz Sharif which was not true.

He stated the PM misused his powers in violation of the his constitutional oath and for committing such violation, he should be tried under Article 6 of the Constitution.

A single bench of the LHC had dismissed his petition but he challenged the order of the bench before the division bench by filing an intra court appeal.
