Islamabad - Hundreds of activists of Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) staged a sit-in here at Melody Market after Friday prayers and blocked roads to record their protest against target killings of the party workers.

They demanded the government to arrest the killers of Dr Fayyaz Khan, ASWJ Karachi office-bearer, and other party workers by implementing upon the National Action Plan.         The protesters had initially planned to march from Aabpara Chowk to the Parliament House but the local police, in a prompt action, blocked all the roads leading to the Constitution Avenue, thus causing inconvenience for the road-users. Ship containers and barbed wire were placed in the way and long queues of vehicles were seen at NADRA Headquarters Chowk and in front of Serena Hotel. Finding no way through, the protesters later decided to stage sit-in at Melody Market.

The speakers addressing the protesters criticized the government for its failure to protect the party workers. They also demanded the government to release Maulana Ashraf Tahir and other party workers whom, they believe, were implicated in fake cases. The protesters later dispersed peacefully.
