District Police Officer Ghulam Mubashir Maken said that a special crackdown launched on notorious criminals and drug peddlers will continue till elimination of crime in district.
He also shared monthly performance report of the district police.
According to the DPO, in Feb-2015, the District Police arrested 275 proclaimed offenders and recovered booty worth Rs5.756 million while 44 persons who were arrested in 45 cases of illicit weapons sent to jail. He claimed that the police had recovered 5 Kalashnikovs, 35 rifles, 36 guns, 71 pistols, 23 revolvers, 3 repeaters, 23 carbines and 1,869 cartridges during a campaign against illicit weapons carried out across the district.
He also informed that eight court absconders were also arrested during the period in question while 34 drug peddlers were also sent to jail after registration of casesdrug act. Similarly, the police recovered 3,205 grams of Chars, 797 grams of heroin, 520 of grams marijuana, 15 bottles of liquor and 178 litres liquor from 34 drug peddlers.
DPO Maken said that the police had arrested 61 gamblers in 13 cases and recovered 14 cellphones, 1 television and stake money from their possession.
