PESHAWAR: The second round of anti-polio drive in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under Sehat Ka Ittehad programne ended on Friday.

During the three days round, about 2.7 million children of age group below five years in 21 districts were vaccinated. This number is more than 97 per cent of the total target set for the second round and special catch up activities are in progress to achieve the rest of the target for which special tasks have been assigned to deputy commissioners and District Health Officers of the concerned district.

According to a report of Polio Emergency Operation Centre of Health Department, hundred per cent targets have been achieved in district Abbottabad, Buner, Charsadda, Chitral, D.I.Khan, Lower Dir, Haripur, Kohistan, Lakki Marwat, Hangu and Nowshera. According to district wise details, 30,154 children were vaccinated in  Abbottabad, 1,74,143 in Bannu, 17,395 in Buner, 2,60,812 Charsadda, 959 in Chitral, 2,97,489 in D.I.Khan, 7008 in Dir Lower,  1,16,764 in Hangu, 44,062 in Haripur, 71,547 in Karak, 98,980 in Kohat, 73,347 in Kohistan, 3,70,836 in Mardan, 1,20,866 in Nowshera, 6,79,857 in Peshawar, 32,648 in Swabi and 78,666 children were immunised in Tank.–Staff Reporter
